Country Folk Fabrics & Gifts

The name here does a lot of the explaining. A shop calling itself Country Folk Fabrics and Gifts is telling you it sells more than one thing, and that clothing, the category it is filed under, is a partial description at best. Directory categories are blunt instruments. They put a business in the one bucket that fits closest and leave the rest to the visitor, which is worth remembering before assuming a rack of garments is what waits at the other end. The postal code puts it in Sardis, in the V2R block that covers the Luckakuck Way corridor and the ground around Cottonwood Centre and Chilliwack Mall. That is the retail center of gravity for the whole city; Cottonwood alone carries something over seventy tenancies, and the run of Luckakuck Way between the two is the closest thing Chilliwack has to a big-box strip. Sardis is only the fourth largest neighborhood by area and holds a wildly disproportionate share of the city's storefronts. Whether a small independent gains or loses by sitting near that much national retail is an open question; the footfall is there, and so is the competition.
