A rural, farm-dominated neighbourhood in the southwest of the city, second largest by area but home to barely three thousand people. Includes the Cattermole industrial area and Leq'รก:mel First Nation.

Greendale is farmland with a road grid over it. It covers the southwest corner of the municipality, is the second largest neighbourhood in Chilliwack by area, and has fewer than three thousand residents spread across all of it โ€” which tells you most of what you need to know about the density.

The businesses here are the ones that belong on farmland: dairy and poultry operations, greenhouses, equipment dealers and repair, feed and fencing suppliers, trucking yards, and the roadside stands that appear when the corn and the berries come in. The Cattermole industrial area at the western edge adds a block of heavier industry that has nothing to do with agriculture at all.

There is recreation out here too โ€” golf courses, the dyke trails, and the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve on the Vedder โ€” which supports a small run of businesses that exist because people drive out to Greendale on purpose rather than because they live there. Most of what trades out here keeps farm hours rather than shop hours and is easier to find by asking than by searching, so this page is shorter than the amount of business actually done in Greendale.
