Chilliwack West is the odd one out. It is thinly populated — barely 2,500 residents in cul-de-sacs and small subdivisions up the side of Chilliwack Mountain — and yet it carries two of the busiest commercial areas in the city, because both of them are there for the highway rather than for the neighbours.
Eagle Landing sits right off the Highway 1 interchange and is one of Chilliwack's three big retail centres. Behind it, the Village West industrial area is where a serious share of the city's warehousing, fabrication, food processing and trade supply actually happens. If you are looking for a business that has a yard rather than a window, there is a good chance it is here.
The neighbourhood also includes the Aitchelitz, Shxwhá:y Village, Skwah and Squiala First Nations, and Squiala's land is what Eagle Landing was built on — one of the more consequential pieces of commercial development in recent Chilliwack history.
