About Mooyah

A locally owned burger restaurant, on the western edge of the city off Highway 1.

Chilliwack West is the strange one. Barely 2,500 people live there, in cul-de-sacs and small subdivisions running up the side of Chilliwack Mountain, and yet the neighborhood carries two of the busiest commercial areas in the city: the Village West industrial lands and Eagle Landing at the Highway 1 interchange. Both are there for the highway rather than for the neighbors, and a restaurant at that end of town is working a different room from one downtown.

That matters because Chilliwack's independent kitchens are scattered rather than clustered, which is the single most useful thing to know before looking for dinner here. The heaviest concentration is downtown, around Five Corners and in the District 1881 development on the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales site. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the largest number of rooms in total, though most of them sit in strip plazas and are easy to drive straight past. Out in Yarrow and Rosedale a handful of places have outlasted several owners. A highway-adjacent address belongs to none of those groups; it catches people passing through as much as people who live nearby. Which of those patterns a given room belongs to tells you more about it than any cuisine label does.

There is not much here. Mooyah is filed under restaurants at the western edge of the city, and there is neither a street nor a way to contact it on file, so the postal code and the neighborhood are the extent of what can be placed on a map. Nothing here speaks to the food, the room or the prices; none of that has been checked. Anyone deciding whether to make the trip should confirm independently that it is trading, and where exactly within Chilliwack West it sits, since the neighborhood is long, thin, and has two separate commercial ends serving quite different purposes.

The twelve Chilliwack neighborhoods, and what each one is actually like

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
