Boats, trailers, RVs and farm equipment spend roughly eight months of the year parked somewhere, and in the rural half of this municipality that somewhere is often a rented yard. The other half of the demand comes from housing: new building has drawn a lot of people out of larger places and into smaller rooms than they were expecting. With Cultus Lake and the Chilliwack River valley on the doorstep, the recreational side is a bigger share of the trade here than it would be in most cities. M.Y. Mini Storage is listed among the independent operators; the national chains are not on this site.
Chilliwack West is a sensible place for a facility like it. The neighborhood is the odd one out in the city, barely 2,500 residents in cul-de-sacs and small subdivisions up the side of Chilliwack Mountain, and yet it carries two of the busiest commercial areas in Chilliwack, the Eagle Landing retail center and the Village West industrial area, both there for the highway rather than for the neighbors. Storage follows the same logic: land that costs less, access straight off Highway 1, and no requirement that anybody be able to walk to it. A site like that is found deliberately or not at all.
There is no way of getting in touch. There is no phone number, no website and no street address, only the neighborhood and a postal code, which makes this one of the harder facilities to act on. Anyone comparing facilities will want unit sizes, whether the site is indoor, outdoor or a mix, whether anything is climate controlled, gate hours, and whether vehicles and trailers are taken. Insurance requirements and any minimum rental term belong in the same conversation. None of it can be answered from here, so turning up in person is likely the only route.
