Self storage has grown quickly in Chilliwack for two reasons that push in the same direction. People keep arriving from smaller places into new-build housing with less room in it than they left behind, and the rural half of the municipality has equipment, boats, trailers and RVs that need somewhere to sit for eight months of the year. That second line is a larger share of the trade here than in most cities, given Cultus Lake, the Chilliwack River valley and how many households own something that floats or tows. The city itself grew 11.6 per cent between 2020 and 2025, which is the other half of the same story.
Most facilities are out along Highway 1 or in the industrial ground at Village West and Cattermole, where land is cheaper and a truck can turn around without difficulty. An address at 45770 Luckakuck Way is a different proposition. That is Sardis, the retail centre of gravity for the whole city, with Cottonwood Centre and Chilliwack Mall on either side of the strip and something over seventy tenancies in the first of those alone. Storage in among the shops is convenient in a way an out-of-town compound is not, particularly for a unit somebody visits often rather than twice a year.
A website is published and no phone number, so the site is the way in. The things worth confirming there or on a visit are the practical ones a directory cannot carry: what sizes are available, whether outdoor vehicle and trailer parking is offered alongside indoor lockers, how access is controlled and what hours it runs to. Insurance requirements and the rules on what may be kept in a unit belong in the same conversation. Those specifics decide the choice more than anything else, and they differ widely between operators, sometimes between two yards on the same road.
