Luckakuck Way is the closest thing Chilliwack has to a big-box strip. Cottonwood Centre sits on one side of it with something over seventy tenancies, Chilliwack Mall is across the way, and the run between the two pulls shoppers in from a good part of the eastern valley. Bento Sushi is listed at 45779, in the middle of all that, which means a meal here is usually incidental to being out for something else.
Where to eat in this city is a question of knowing addresses rather than districts, because the independent rooms are spread thin instead of gathered together. The downtown blocks around Five Corners hold the highest concentration, and the District 1881 redevelopment on the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales site brought a run of newer kitchens in beside them. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the greatest number overall. Yarrow and Rosedale each keep a handful that have outlasted several owners and are worth the drive out. A retail strip is a fourth case again, working on its own logic: the customers are already standing there. The practical effect of all this is that you cannot browse a district in Chilliwack; you pick a destination and drive to it.
