Veterinary practice in Chilliwack covers two jobs that are barely the same profession. There is companion-animal work, concentrated along Vedder Road and in the downtown, serving a city of ninety thousand with the usual clinics, dentals and after-hours arrangements. And there is large-animal and farm practice, which exists here on a scale it does not in most of the Lower Mainland: Chilliwack has more than 700 farms and is the largest dairy-producing area in British Columbia, so bovine, equine and poultry work is a serious business, run out of ambulatory practices covering Greendale, Rosedale, Yarrow and Ryder Lake. Both kinds are listed here.
