Veterinarians
A local veterinary clinic off the Luckakuck Way strip, on Vedder Road.
Many of the companion-animal practices in this city are strung along Vedder Road, and number 7319 sits in Sardis, a short way off the Luckakuck Way retail strip. Family Pet Hospital is listed at that address with a phone number and a website against it, which for a clinic is the minimum anyone needs, since nearly everything in veterinary care begins with a call. Sardis is also where the city does most of its shopping, so a visit here folds into other errands more easily than most appointments do.
Veterinary practice in this city covers two jobs that are barely the same profession. One is companion-animal work, concentrated along Vedder Road and in the downtown, serving a population of about 93,000 at the 2021 census and something nearer 112,500 on the City's own recent estimate, with the usual run of vaccinations, dentals and after-hours arrangements. The other is large-animal and farm practice, which exists here at a scale it does not elsewhere in the Lower Mainland. Chilliwack has more than 700 farms and is the largest dairy-producing area in British Columbia, so bovine, equine and poultry work is a serious business, run out of ambulatory practices covering Greendale, Rosedale, Yarrow and Ryder Lake. Both kinds are listed on this site.
The name points to the first of those, though the listing itself does not set out what the clinic takes on. Species seen, surgical capacity and emergency arrangements all vary between practices that look identical from the street. Those are call-ahead questions, and the after-hours one in particular is better asked on a quiet weekday than at nine on a Sunday night with a sick animal in the back of the car. Registering with a practice before anything goes wrong is standard advice and it holds here as much as anywhere, since a clinic that has met the animal once already is a good deal easier to reach on a bad day.

The drive-throughs on Luckakuck are the visible half of eating here. The interesting half is downtown, out on the farm roads, and in the strip plazas nobody photographs.
