Veterinarians
A veterinary clinic on the Fairfield Island side of the downtown.
Two quite different jobs share the word veterinarian in this part of the Fraser Valley. One is companion animal work: the cats, dogs and small pets of a city of ninety thousand plus, handled by clinics concentrated downtown and along Vedder Road, with the usual run of vaccinations, dentals and after hours arrangements. The other is large animal and farm practice, which exists on a scale here that it does not elsewhere in the Lower Mainland, because Chilliwack has more than 700 farms and is the largest dairy-producing area in British Columbia. Bovine, equine and poultry work is a serious business here, run largely out of ambulatory practices covering Greendale, Rosedale, Yarrow and Ryder Lake. Both are listed on this site under one heading.
Menzies Animal Vet is listed on Fairfield Island, immediately north of the downtown, which points towards the first of those two. Fairfield Island is residential almost end to end, a tight grid of detached houses with more parkland per block than any other neighbourhood in Chilliwack, and the practical consequence is a lot of dogs and a lot of places to walk them. A clinic there is minutes from a large number of households and minutes from the downtown as well. Registering with somewhere close matters more for pets than for most services, because the trip is usually made with an anxious animal in the car.
What is not published is anything to make contact with. The record holds no number to ring, no site to look at and no street, only the postal code, which narrows it to a few blocks. Anyone weighing up a clinic will want to know things this page cannot supply: whether there is room for new patients, what happens when something goes wrong outside normal hours, and whether the practice covers anything larger than a household pet. Those are worth establishing before an animal is actually unwell, rather than during.

Search for an electrician in Chilliwack and most of what comes back is a Metro Vancouver company with a Chilliwack landing page. Here is how to tell the difference.

The drive-throughs on Luckakuck are the visible half of eating here. The interesting half is downtown, out on the farm roads, and in the strip plazas nobody photographs.
