Switzer’s Vintage Decor
About Switzer’s Vintage Decor
An owner-run home goods shop, on the Fairfield Island side of the downtown.
Vintage decor sits slightly apart from the rest of the home goods trade, because the stock is finite. A shop selling new kitchenware can reorder; a shop selling old things has whatever it found this month, which makes a second visit a different experience from the first and makes any description of what is on the shelves out of date almost immediately. So the shop and its address are covered here, and the contents are left alone.
The address is 10015 Young Road, on the Fairfield Island side of the water. Young Road is one of the arms of the Five Corners junction a little to the south, so the shop sits on the same axis as the old commercial core rather than off on a side street. More than 350 businesses trade in the blocks around that junction, and the District 1881 redevelopment sits in the same few streets. Fairfield Island itself is almost entirely houses, the second smallest neighborhood in Chilliwack by area, 95 per cent single-family, and barely changed in shape for decades. The Hope Slough runs between it and the commercial core, close enough that a shop on this stretch reads as part of downtown while sitting among residential streets.
Furnishing a house is a live concern in Chilliwack at the moment. The city took on roughly 11,700 new residents between 2020 and 2025 and a great deal of new construction went up to hold them, which is good for the chains at Cottonwood Centre and Eagle Landing and, in a slower way, for the independents. There is a real craft and maker economy in this valley, and home goods is the category where most of it reaches an actual shopfront. No phone number is listed for this business. A Facebook page is given as its web presence, which is where a small shop is most likely to post what has just come in, and probably the first place to look before making the trip.

The twelve Chilliwack neighborhoods, and what each one is actually like
The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
