Between 2020 and 2025 Chilliwack added roughly 11,700 residents, growth of 11.6 per cent, and a great many of them moved into something recently built and largely empty. That is the quiet engine under the home goods trade here. The chain version of it sits in Cottonwood Centre and out at Eagle Landing by the Highway 1 interchange, and neither is listed on this site. The independent version is downtown, in the District 1881 blocks and in Sardis: smaller shops carrying kitchenware, linens, pottery, textiles and gifts, often with a shelf given over to local makers. There is a genuine craft economy in the Fraser Valley, and home goods is the category where most of it reaches an actual shopfront rather than a market table. Real Deals is placed by its postal code in the old commercial grid around Five Corners, the junction of Yale Road, Young Road and Wellington Avenue that has been the centre of town far longer than any shopping centre, and where more than 350 businesses now trade across banks, restaurants, clinics, pharmacies and small independent retail.
Beyond the neighbourhood and the category, though, this listing is bare. There is no street address, no telephone number and no website, so nothing here indicates what is actually carried, at what sort of price, or whether the stock is new, secondhand or some mixture of the two. The name leans toward the discount end of that, but a name is a statement of intention rather than a description of stock. Home goods is a wide label and the shops filed under it differ from one another far more than the label admits, which makes the gap more than a formality. The honest reading is that this entry is a pointer to a business trading in the downtown, not a description of what is on its shelves. Anyone curious will have to go and look, which in a walkable grid of that size is not much of an imposition.
