An independent Japanese restaurant in one of the Sardis plazas along Vedder Road.
A great deal of the eating in this city happens in strip plazas, and there is no point being sniffy about it. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder carries more independent dining rooms than any other stretch of Chilliwack, and most of them sit behind a parking apron under a sign board shared between four or five tenancies. Vedder Sushi is one of those, in the Sardis section of the run. Rooms in this format are easy to miss at fifty kilometres an hour and tend to be found by people who already knew they were there.
Sardis is the retail center of gravity for the whole municipality, with Cottonwood Centre, Chilliwack Mall and the Luckakuck Way strip all inside it, so a kitchen here is close to where most of the city already drives for other reasons. Vedder Road also carries most of the movement between the downtown and the south end, which means a plaza on it collects trade from a far wider area than the immediate blocks. What kind of Japanese cooking is being done, how the menu is put together and whether the counter or the collection window is the point of the place are questions this directory does not answer, and the differences between one such room and the next are large.

That is not unusual for smaller independent kitchens, which often carry no more public presence than a sign on the plaza.
