Auto Repair
An owner-run garage, among the fields in Greendale.
Greendale covers the southwest corner of the municipality and is the second largest neighborhood in Chilliwack by area, yet fewer than three thousand people live across the whole of it. It is farmland with a road grid laid over the top, taking in the Cattermole industrial area. A vehicle business out here is not catching passing trade in any meaningful sense, because there is very little passing. It serves people who already know where it is.
The trade this business sits in is one of the strongest independent categories in the city. Franchised quick-lube and tyre chains are kept off this directory, which leaves the owner-operated shops, and Chilliwack has a lot of them: in the light-industrial pockets behind Sardis, out through Village West, and along the Young Road corridor. The rural half of the municipality shapes what they do. Several handle diesel, trucks, trailers, RVs and agricultural equipment alongside cars, because that is what their customers drive and tow. Where a shop sits often hints at which of those it sees most of.
The name here points at detailing rather than mechanical work, while the category here is auto repair, so establishing which of the two is on offer belongs at the start of any first conversation. The two also differ in how they are booked: detailing is a block of time agreed in advance, repair depends on what a diagnosis turns up. No street address, phone number or website appears here, which is common enough among small operations in the rural neighborhoods that run on referral. The postal code above will put a map on the right part of Greendale, though in country this thinly settled a postal code covers a good deal of ground. Anyone who does find a way to make contact should ask what the work actually covers before driving out; the fields are pleasant, but they are a fair distance from most of the city.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
