Electronics Stores
An independent electronics and repair shop in the old commercial grid around Five Corners.
Buying electronics and getting electronics fixed are two different errands, and in Chilliwack they happen in different places. The national retailers are out at Eagle Landing by the Highway 1 interchange and along Luckakuck Way in Sardis, and none of them appear here. The independent trade is mostly repair and service: shops downtown and in Sardis that will fix a laptop, recover a drive or build a machine, phone and tablet screen work, a small business-IT layer serving the offices in the core and the industrial operations out in Village West, and an audio strand attached to the automotive trade. For a specification and a warranty, go to the mall. For something made to work again, this is the list.
Unit 104 at 8645 Young Road puts this one on the downtown side, in the old commercial grid running out from Five Corners, the junction where Young Road meets Yale Road and Wellington Avenue. Young Road is one of the three, and the blocks along it carried the town's trade well before the shopping centers were built. The core holds a lot of small offices, clinics and independent retail, which is a plausible customer base for a repair counter within walking distance of all of it.
A phone number is published, and calling it is the sensible first move. What is not clear is which of the things above the shop actually does, because the category is broad and independents in it specialize narrowly. Whether a particular repair is taken on, whether parts are held or ordered in, and whether anything is sold over the counter at all are worth establishing in a two-minute conversation before driving down. A clear description of the fault at the outset tends to save time on both sides. A unit number usually means a multi-tenant building rather than a storefront of its own, so allow a minute to find the right door.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
