An independent burger takeaway on the Vedder Road run south toward the river.
This is a listing with very little in it, which is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up. There is an address, unit 105 at 45800 Promontory Road, and a postal code, and after that nothing: no telephone number, no website, no published hours. For a small takeaway counter that is ordinary rather than suspicious, but it does mean the only way to learn anything is to go, or to know someone who already has. A directory is only as complete as what a business chooses to publish, and this one has published almost nothing.
The address sits at the southern end of Vedder, the fastest-growing part of Chilliwack after Promontory itself, up 39 per cent between 2011 and 2021 and now second only to the downtown for population. Garrison Crossing, built on the grounds of the Canadian Forces base that closed in December 1997, accounts for a good share of that, and the subdivisions that filled in around it account for the rest. Canada Education Park, the University of the Fraser Valley campus and Tzeachten First Nation all sit within the same neighbourhood. Promontory Road runs from the valley floor up onto the hillside it takes its name from, so the trade around here is residential rather than passing.
Independent burger counters matter more in this city than they might elsewhere, because the visible fast food is almost entirely national: the drive-throughs along Luckakuck Way and at the Highway 1 interchange, none of which are listed on this site. What remains is the harder half to find and generally the better one, the pizza shops and takeout counters and fish and chip places tucked into strip plazas and residential edges, plus the food trucks that work the industrial areas at lunchtime. Expect counter service or a bag to carry out. Expect also to confirm it is trading before driving up the hill for it.
