Fast Food & Takeout
Donair Affair
About Donair Affair
A takeaway in the Sardis retail district.
Anyone searching this category in Chilliwack runs into a problem immediately. The visible version of fast food here, the drive-through row along Luckakuck Way and the cluster at the Highway 1 interchange, is almost entirely national brands, and none of those appear on this site. That is a policy on this site rather than a judgement about the food, but it does mean the page looks emptier than the road does. What is left takes more finding and is generally more interesting: the independent pizza shops, the Asian takeout counters tucked into strip plazas, fish and chips near Vedder Crossing, Mexican and Middle Eastern counters downtown, and the trucks that park up in the industrial areas at lunchtime. Donair Affair belongs to that second group, in Sardis, which is also where the drive-throughs are thickest, so an independent counter here is visible to the same traffic and measured against it.
Sardis carries a share of Chilliwack's storefronts out of all proportion to the ground it covers, with two shopping centres and a long run of plazas behind them. A small food counter in that setting works the busiest retail traffic in the city, though whether that helps depends on the day: a plaza unit is seen by everyone and remembered by fewer. What the listing does not carry is contact detail. No phone number, website or street address is recorded, which for a counter-service business is common enough, and the postal code will put a map within a block or two of the right plaza. That is enough to find it and not enough to plan around. Most of this category in Chilliwack is takeaway or counter service only, though nothing here confirms which side of that line this one falls on, and hours, range and whether there is somewhere to sit are all questions for the counter.
