Unit numbers are worth reading in Sardis. They mean one of two things, a bay in a retail plaza or a light industrial unit behind the shops, and both kinds of space suit this trade for the same reason: height and floor area cost less there than frontage on the main road does, and a room with weights in it needs more of the first than the second. Unit 103 at 45778 Gaetz Street puts CrossFit Chilliwack in the Sardis retail district, a few streets off the Vedder Road and Luckakuck Way junction.
Excluding the national fitness chains, as this directory does, leaves Chilliwack with a stronger list than a city of this size usually manages. Independent gyms, strength and conditioning rooms, boxing and martial arts clubs and a run of small studios are spread along Vedder Road and through the units behind Sardis. Part of what holds that up is at the south end: the University of the Fraser Valley campus, the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre and the Justice Institute of BC campus at Canada Education Park put a large number of people who train seriously, some of them for occupational reasons, into one corner of the city. CrossFit is a named method rather than a loose description, so the sign does more work here than most gym names do. What it leaves out is the shape of the operation: class times, whether there is drop-in access for visitors, what a first session or trial involves, or how membership is structured. None of that is guessable from an address. Both a phone number and a website are published here, which is not the norm across this section, and either will settle those questions faster than turning up cold at a unit door in the middle of a working day.
