Hairdressing in Chilliwack has followed the housing, and the housing has moved south. The largest concentration of salons now runs along the Vedder Road corridor through Sardis and Vedder, in the strip plazas that went up beside the subdivisions of the last fifteen years, with an older group downtown around Five Corners where some rooms have been in place for decades. Promontory and the Eastern Hillsides have almost no commercial space at all, so the stylists serving those streets tend to rent a chair down on the flat or work from a home studio.
