Day Spas
An independent salon and treatment room near Garrison Crossing.
One thing to be clear about before reading too much into this category: registered massage therapy is not listed on this site as a matter of policy, so a day spa entry here means cosmetic and relaxation work rather than clinical treatment. That distinction is worth holding onto in a city where a great many people do physical outdoor work for a living and the line between a treatment that feels good and a treatment that fixes something gets blurred easily.
Tropicana is in Vedder, near Garrison Crossing, and is described as a salon with treatment rooms. The whole southern end of that neighborhood is comparatively new. The Canadian Forces base closed in December 1997, Garrison Crossing was built on its grounds, and subdivisions filled in around it over the two decades that followed, making Vedder the fastest growing part of the city after Promontory. Businesses of this kind follow that sort of housing closely, because a salon with treatment space draws on a catchment of a few kilometres rather than on a whole city.
The wider trade divides three ways here. There are day spas in Sardis and the downtown running facials, body treatments and packages; there are smaller rooms attached to salons, which is what this appears to be; and there is a visitor facing strand out toward Cultus Lake and the Chilliwack River valley working off the warm weather traffic. Nothing further is published, no phone, no website, no street number, so the treatment list and the booking arrangements cannot be established from here. Prices are rarely advertised in this category in any case, and treatment names travel poorly between businesses, so a facial at one address and a facial at another can turn out to be quite different pieces of work. For anything involving skin, asking about products and about the training behind a given treatment is a reasonable first move.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
