Beauty & Personal Care in Chilliwack, page 2
Hairdressing, barbering, nails, skin and ink, and in Chilliwack these follow the housing rather than the shopping. The heaviest concentration is along Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder, where a chair in a strip plaza is close to the subdivisions that filled in over the last fifteen years. Downtown holds the older establishments, several of them second-generation, in the blocks off Five Corners. Promontory and the Eastern Hillsides have very little of it — both were built as housing with the shops left down on the flat — so a fair number of the operators listed here work from a room at home or come to you, which in a city this spread out is a sensible way to trade.
