Downtown Chilliwack is older than most of what surrounds it. Five Corners was the commercial middle of the town well before the retail moved south, and roughly 31 per cent of the city's residents still live in this neighborhood, more than any other. Chilliwack General Hospital is on Menholm Road inside it, the Coliseum and the municipal airport are here too, and the whole of it sits north of the long southward run of Vedder Road that took most of the shopping away.
