An independent barbecue restaurant in the old commercial grid around Five Corners.
Restaurants in Chilliwack sit in three or four separate pockets that do not join up, which is the awkward part of eating out here. Downtown has the highest concentration, in the blocks around Five Corners and at District 1881 on the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales site, which brought in a run of newer kitchens. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the greatest number overall, though most of those sit in strip plazas and are easy to drive straight past. Out in Yarrow and Rosedale a handful of places have outlasted several owners. Chains are excluded from these pages, so everything on them is local, and the absence of familiar signage is a policy rather than an oversight.
Chilliwack Kabab is in the downtown group, in the historic core a few blocks from the junction that gives Five Corners its name. Its name and the line above it both point at grilled cooking, and beyond that this entry does not describe the food, which is deliberate. Menus change and a directory that recites one goes stale within a season. It is also the part of Chilliwack where walking from one place to another is genuinely plausible, which matters when you are choosing between rooms rather than committing to one in advance. The blocks are short, and the gap between one possibility and the next is measured in minutes.
Both a phone number and a website are published, which puts this among the better documented listings on the site. The website is the place to look for anything current: what is served, when the room is open, whether there is delivery or a counter for pickup. None of that is recorded here and none of it should be guessed at from a distance. No street address is given either, though the postal code will get a map close, and downtown blocks are short enough that close is usually sufficient.

The drive-throughs on Luckakuck are the visible half of eating here. The interesting half is downtown, out on the farm roads, and in the strip plazas nobody photographs.
