An independent Indian restaurant in the old commercial grid around Five Corners.
Young Road arrives at Five Corners, the junction it shares with Yale Road and Wellington Avenue, and the numbers along it pass through the oldest commercial grid in Chilliwack. An address here means the downtown rather than a plaza on the Vedder Road corridor, and in this city that distinction carries more weight than it would in most places. The core is dense and walkable in a way the southern strips were never designed to be, which makes it the one part of Chilliwack where you can go looking for dinner on foot and turn up more than one option without moving the car.
Chilliwack has grown quickly, roughly 11.6 per cent between 2020 and 2025 on the City's own estimate, and almost all of that has landed on new ground at the south end and on the hillsides. The old core has held its position regardless. The District 1881 redevelopment, on the site of the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales yard, added a run of newer kitchens close by, and the effect has been to make the downtown a busier place to eat rather than to draw anything out of it. Chilliwack sits about 100 kilometres east of Vancouver, which is far enough that it feeds itself rather than borrowing from the Lower Mainland.
The listing carries a website but no phone number, so calling ahead means finding a number some other way. One small note that saves confusion: the web address published for this business is spelled with an extra letter, shandharhut.com, and is worth typing carefully rather than guessing it from the name. The street address is at least specific, which not every listing in this directory manages. What is cooked, and when the doors are open, are questions for the restaurant itself and not for a page like this one, and the site is the fastest way to settle both.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
