Yale Road is one of the three streets that arrive at Five Corners, and 46224 puts Bravo Restaurant and Lounge in the old commercial grid around that junction. These blocks were the centre of the town long before the malls at the south end existed, and the downtown still counts more than 350 businesses across banks, restaurants, clinics, pharmacies and small independent retail. The District 1881 redevelopment, on the site of the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales yard, has added a second cluster of food and shopping beside the first.
Independent dining rooms in this city are scattered rather than clustered, which is the most useful thing to know before going looking for dinner. Downtown has the densest concentration of them. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the greatest raw number, though most of those sit in plazas and are easy to drive past, and there are a few out in Yarrow and Rosedale that have outlasted several owners. Chains are excluded from this directory, so what is left is genuinely local. The city has also grown quickly, up 11.6 per cent since 2020, and the local list shifts with it. A room on Yale Road is at least in the part of Chilliwack where an evening can involve walking somewhere afterwards, which is not true of much of the rest of it.
