An independent restaurant in the downtown, within walking distance of Five Corners.
Five Corners is a genuinely old junction. Yale Road, Young Road and Wellington Avenue all arrive at once, and the blocks fanning out from it were the commercial centre of the town for decades before anyone built a mall on the south side. The Offy is somewhere in that grid, within walking distance of the junction, in a neighbourhood carrying more than 350 businesses across banks, restaurants, clinics, pharmacies and small independent retail. Dining rooms downtown work differently from the ones on Vedder Road for exactly that reason: people arrive on foot, from an office or a flat or the hospital a few streets over, rather than pulling off a strip into a plaza.
What this entry does not carry is almost everything else. There is no street address, no phone number and no website, so a postal code and a neighbourhood are what there is to go on. That is common enough among small independent rooms, which often run on a sign, a sandwich board and word of mouth, and it means a page like this one can describe honestly where a place sits and very little more. Coordinates are on file, so the pin should land in the right part of the grid even without a street number, though a pin and a shopfront are not quite the same thing.
Independent dining in Chilliwack is scattered by nature, and the downtown is the exception. District 1881 added a second cluster of kitchens a short walk from the historic core, and between the two there is enough within a few blocks that wandering is a reasonable way to settle on somewhere. Chains are kept off this directory, so anything found that way will be a local business. Turning up without checking hours is a gamble anywhere, but here it is a cheap one, since there are alternatives within a couple of minutes if the door happens to be shut.

The drive-throughs on Luckakuck are the visible half of eating here. The interesting half is downtown, out on the farm roads, and in the strip plazas nobody photographs.
