Gyms & Fitness
A gym on Corbould Street, on the downtown side of the Hope Slough.
Leisure centers and gyms are not the same proposition, and that difference is the first thing to understand here. Gyms in this directory are mostly independent rooms: strength and conditioning spaces, boxing and martial arts clubs, small studios in the industrial units behind Sardis where the ceilings are high and the rent is not. A civic leisure center works to a different logic, built for a whole population rather than a membership, and what it holds varies from one building to another. What is inside is not enumerated here, so the facilities are a question for the operator.
The address is 9145 Corbould Street, which places it downtown on the near side of the Hope Slough, inside the neighborhood that holds roughly 31 per cent of Chilliwack's residents. For a facility meant to serve everyone, that is the logical part of the city to be in. Five Corners and its 350-plus businesses are a short walk away, Chilliwack General Hospital is on Menholm Road nearby, and the surrounding blocks are the densest residential ones in a city otherwise spread thin across 261 square kilometres.
Chilliwack's demand for training space is stronger than the population alone would suggest, partly because of Canada Education Park at the south end, where the university campus, the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre and a Justice Institute of BC campus put a large number of people who train seriously into one district. That is at the other end of the city from Corbould Street, which is part of the point of having something downtown. No telephone number or website is published, and hours, admission and programme schedules at a facility of this kind change through the year, so they need checking at source rather than here. Anyone traveling in from Promontory, Yarrow or Rosedale should confirm before making the drive; the distances in this municipality are real.

Search for a Chilliwack electrician and a good part of the first page is a Metro Vancouver firm with a Chilliwack landing page. How to tell the difference, what the hillside and farm jobs actually need, and how to get a quote that holds.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
