Promontory is the hill above Vedder, and it went up more or less all at once. The neighbourhood grew 39 per cent in the decade to 2021 and holds close to twelve thousand people now, third most populous in Chilliwack while being third smallest by area, which is another way of saying it is dense, residential and steep. Forest sits at the top of most streets and the valley opens out below them. What it does not have much of is commercial space, because that is not what hillside subdivisions were built for.
