An owner-run restaurant, in the old commercial grid around Five Corners.
Metropolitan Grill Restaurant is downtown, inside the old commercial grid that spreads out from Five Corners. The name is the sort that could sit over a dozen different kitchens, and this entry does not say which one it is: no cuisine, no menu, no indication of whether it is a lunch room, a dinner room or both. That is a real gap, and there is no honest way to fill it from here. What can be said is where it sits and what that position usually means in this city.
Independent dining in Chilliwack is scattered rather than clustered, which is the single most useful thing to know before looking for a table. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the greatest number of rooms in total, though most of them sit inside strip plazas and are easy to drive straight past. Out in Yarrow and Rosedale a few places have outlasted several changes of ownership. The highest concentration, though, is here in the downtown: the blocks around Five Corners, plus the District 1881 redevelopment on the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales site, which brought a run of newer kitchens in beside the older ones. None of it adds up to a restaurant district, which is why local knowledge counts for more here than a map does.
Nothing has been published here: no telephone, no website, no street address, which makes this a listing you would confirm on foot. The downtown is compact enough that finding a frontage is not a serious problem once you are in the right few blocks. Reservations, hours and whether the kitchen is running on a given evening are all unknowns. For a first visit it is worth treating this as somewhere to try rather than somewhere to build an occasion around, at least until you have walked past and seen it for yourself.

The drive-throughs on Luckakuck are the visible half of eating here. The interesting half is downtown, out on the farm roads, and in the strip plazas nobody photographs.
