Yarrow reads as a separate village because it was one. Twelve Mennonite families arrived in February 1928 and bought land that had only recently stopped being underwater; the draining of Sumas Lake and the cutting of the Vedder Canal a few years earlier are the reason there is anything to farm out here at all.
