About Extreme Hobbies
A toy shop on Vedder Road, in one of the Sardis plazas along Vedder Road.
Toy retail is a small category in Chilliwack and there is no point pretending otherwise. The mall shops are national and therefore not listed, which leaves a handful of independents: a traditional toy and game shop or two, hobby and model suppliers, a games and comics counter, mostly downtown and in Sardis. They tend to be the sort of places that survive on puzzles, craft kits, board games and models rather than on whatever is being advertised to children this month, and on knowing their regulars. A short list, but the shops on it are the ones worth walking into. Hobby retail runs on repeat custom rather than volume, which is part of why the survivors sit where the shopping already is instead of off on their own, and a city that has added roughly 11,700 residents in five years widens that base a little.
This one is at Unit 303, 7592 Vedder Road, in Sardis, which is where most of the city's shopping happens. Cottonwood Centre runs to something over seventy tenancies, Chilliwack Mall is across the way, and the Luckakuck Way strip between them is as close as Chilliwack gets to big-box retail. A unit number on Vedder Road means a plaza address rather than a street frontage, so it is worth having that unit in hand before setting out, since plaza signage is not always legible from the road at driving speed.
Unusually for a hobby shop in this category, both a phone number and a website are published, which makes the practical questions easy to settle in advance.
Hobby shops vary enormously in what they carry, and the gap between a shop stocking radio-controlled models and one running mostly to board games is the gap between a useful trip and a wasted one. Checking first is the obvious move for a specific item or a specific brand. Neither is a detail that can be known in advance.

Where Chilliwack actually shops, and why nearly all of it is on two roads
