Childcare is in short supply in Chilliwack and the geography makes it worse: the neighbourhoods that have added the most young families — Promontory, the Eastern Hillsides and the newer parts of Vedder — were built as housing with almost no commercial space, so the centres are mostly down on the flat in Sardis and the downtown, and a large share of provision is licensed family childcare operating out of a home. This page lists centres, preschools, Montessori and out-of-school care. Waitlists are the norm here rather than the exception, so it is worth contacting several. Chain and franchise operators are excluded.
