Childcare is in short supply in Chilliwack and the geography makes it worse: the neighborhoods that have added the most young families; Promontory, the Eastern Hillsides and the newer parts of Vedder; were built as housing with almost no commercial space, so the centers are mostly down on the flat in Sardis and the downtown, and a large share of provision is licensed family childcare operating out of a home. This page lists centers, preschools, Montessori and out-of-school care. Waitlists are the norm here rather than the exception, so it is worth contacting several. Chain and franchise operators are excluded.
