Childcare & Daycare
A local childcare center on Noble Road, in the south end of Chilliwack Proper between the downtown core and Highway 1.
Finding a space for a child in this city is a search, not an errand. Childcare in Chilliwack is in short supply, and the geography makes the shortage worse than the raw numbers suggest. The neighborhoods that have added the most young families over the past decade, Promontory, the Eastern Hillsides and the newer parts of Vedder, were built almost entirely as housing, with very little commercial space in them. The centers, as a result, are mostly down on the flat, in Sardis and the downtown, and a large share of what is licensed in this city is family childcare run out of somebody's home.
Wibble Wobble sits on Noble Road, in the south end of Chilliwack Proper, in the blocks between the old downtown core at Five Corners and the Highway 1 interchange. That is the downtown half of the pattern rather than the Sardis half. It is the kind of stretch where a center can find a unit and parking, a kilometre or two from Five Corners and close enough to the interchange that it falls on the way for anyone leaving the city from this side of it. It also means a drop-off can be folded into a trip that was happening anyway, which for a parent on a schedule is not a small thing.
What is not known here is the part that decides it: ages taken, whether the license covers infants and toddlers or only the older groups, hours, and where the waitlist stands. Waitlists are the norm here rather than the exception, and the standard advice is to put your name down at several places at once and expect to wait at more than one. Nothing about capacity or availability should be assumed without checking directly. There is a website for this centre, which is the sensible first stop, and no phone number published here, so any question the site does not answer will need an email or a visit in person.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
