Most of Chilliwack's rooms are national brands clustered at the Highway 1 interchanges, and none of those appear here. What is left is the independent side, and it is small but genuinely local: family-run motels, a few inns, riverside and rural accommodation toward Vedder Crossing and the Chilliwack River valley, and bed-and-breakfast operations out in the farming neighbourhoods. Demand is strongly seasonal and tied to the outdoors — Cultus Lake, the Vedder fishing runs, Mount Cheam and the Chilliwack River valley campgrounds — so a fair number of these operate to a summer rhythm. Book ahead for August.
