Finding childcare in this city is mostly an exercise in patience, and the geography does not help. The neighbourhoods that have added the most young families, Promontory, the Eastern Hillsides and the newer parts of Vedder, were built as housing with almost no commercial space in them, so the centres sit down on the flat in Sardis and the downtown while a lot of the demand sits up the hill. A large share of what provision exists is licensed family childcare running out of somebody's house. Waitlists are the normal condition rather than a sign of a particularly sought-after room.
