Convenience retail survives in Chilliwack on geography. The municipality covers 261 square kilometres, most of it farmland, and outside the central L of the downtown and Vedder Road a great many households are a ten-minute drive from a supermarket. That is why this category runs longer here than it would in a city of the same population laid out more compactly: the village store in Yarrow, the crossroads shops in Greendale and Rosedale that double as the post drop and the lottery counter, the ones up on Promontory serving a hill with no other retail on it, and the older shops in the downtown grid.

Downtown convenience trade works differently from the rural sort. It is not the only shop for kilometres; it is one of several hundred businesses inside a walkable grid, so it competes on hours, on being on the right corner, and on carrying the specific things people run out of. Branded petrol-station kiosks and national convenience chains are excluded from this directory, so what remains is largely family-run. Chilliwack General Hospital on Menholm Road, the Coliseum and the municipal airport all sit inside this neighborhood, so the daytime population is not purely residential, and a shop in the grid draws on more than the households nearest to it.
The name suggests some sporting angle, which is not explained here and will not be invented. No street address, phone number or website is published, only the postal code, and that places the shop in the downtown grid rather than on a named corner. Anyone after something more particular than milk and a newspaper will get a faster answer by walking in than by planning around it, and the walk is short in a neighborhood this compact.
