An owner-run restaurant, in the blocks that have been Chilliwack's centre since before the malls.
9339 Main Street is a downtown address, in the blocks around Five Corners where the highest concentration of independent kitchens in Chilliwack sits, and where the District 1881 redevelopment has added more of them. That concentration is relative, though. There is no restaurant quarter in this city, and the greatest number of rooms overall is strung down Vedder Road, through Sardis and on toward the river, mostly in strip plazas and mostly easy to drive straight past. Out in Yarrow and Rosedale there are a few places that have outlasted several owners, and those take a deliberate drive.
The name is the only account of the food anyone has given this directory, and it is not an ambiguous one, though it says nothing about how the cooking is done, which is where two rooms selling the same two things can differ completely. No phone number and no website are recorded here, so there is no way to check a menu in advance, and no way to find out whether the place does takeaway or seats you. Nothing indicates how long the room has been trading either, or how big it is, which is the sort of thing a regular would tell you in a sentence. A name is a thin thing to plan an evening around, but it is what the record holds.
Main Street runs through the core, so the practical advantages are the ordinary downtown ones. There is other trade on the same blocks, and a meal here can be attached to something else you were already doing in the neighbourhood, which is not how a strip-plaza room works. Chains are excluded from this section of the directory, which means everything listed alongside it is genuinely local, run by people who live in the city rather than by a regional office. A first visit means turning up and finding out, which is an older way of choosing dinner than most people are used to now.
