Heritage buildings with high ceilings are the downtown's contribution to the coffee trade, and there are several of them around Five Corners and Wellington Avenue. Those rooms are the ones built for sitting still, and the wifi in them tends to be an afterthought. Vedder Road serves traffic instead of lingerers. Garrison Crossing has the walkable version, which is what that neighborhood was laid out for in the first place. And there is a rural strand, a counter at the back of a nursery or a farm shop with an espresso machine, which only makes sense in a city where two thirds of the land is under crop.
