A municipality spread across 261 square kilometres keeps neighborhood dispensaries alive that a compact city would have lost years ago. That is the reason Chilliwack's independent pharmacy trade is larger than the population alone would suggest. The older population in the rural neighborhoods is part of it too; distance and age together make a nearby counter worth keeping. The chains are in the malls and bolted onto the supermarkets, and none of them appear in this directory. What is left is the older pattern: counters attached to medical clinics near Chilliwack General, dispensaries serving Sardis and Vedder, a compounding and long-term-care strand, and a good deal of delivery, which exists here for the same reason the shops do.
Lock's Pharmacy sits in the downtown, in the V2P blocks within walking distance of Five Corners. Whatever else moved south to the malls over the years, the clinics and the dispensaries did not go with them; the hospital is inside this neighborhood, and the core still carries a good number of both. Downtown is not where Chilliwack does its shopping any more, but a good deal of its health care still happens here. A pharmacy counter within walking distance of the practices that write the prescriptions is the arrangement the trade was built around, and this is one of the few parts of the municipality where it still holds.
There is not much here. There is a postal code and a neighborhood, and no street address, telephone number or website, so the business can be placed on a map to within a block or so and no closer. Anything a person actually needs to know before going, which prescriptions can be filled on the spot, whether a particular drug is held in stock, whether the counter delivers, is not answerable from here. That is a limitation of what is available here rather than of the pharmacy, but it is the reader's problem either way.
