About Private Barbershop
An owner-run barber shop, in the old commercial grid around Five Corners.
A barbershop is one of the few retail businesses where the thing being sold has not changed much in a century, and where the choice of one over another usually comes down to proximity and whether you got on with the person holding the clippers. Private Barbershop is listed downtown, inside the old commercial grid that spreads out from Five Corners, and it is owner-run rather than part of a chain, which in this trade is the norm rather than a distinction worth boasting about.
Barbering in Chilliwack has had a genuine revival, and it split along neighborhood lines as it went. The newer end of town, Garrison Crossing and the built-out parts of Vedder, tends toward the full traditional-shop format, hot towels and a booking app included. Downtown keeps the older version: small rooms, a couple of chairs, some of them cutting hair on the same block for longer than most of the city's housing stock has existed. Which of those two this shop resembles is not something the listing can settle, and it is the sort of thing worth knowing before turning up with a specific haircut in mind.
There is no phone number and no website on file, which rules out calling ahead and leaves the postal code above as the practical way to find the door. That is common among the downtown shops and it is not a mark against them; the format has never depended much on being findable online. It does mean a first visit is better treated as reconnaissance than as an appointment, and that anything about hours or waiting will have to be read off the door itself. The surrounding blocks carry something over 350 businesses across banks, restaurants, clinics, pharmacies and small independent retail, so a trip that comes up short still lands you somewhere with other reasons to be standing there.

The twelve Chilliwack neighborhoods, and what each one is actually like
The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
