Unit 15 at 5725 Vedder Road sits on the long commercial run that carries traffic south out of Sardis toward the river, which is where a good deal of Chilliwack's ordinary trade has ended up. Vedder Road is not a high street in the old sense. It is a corridor of plazas and unit numbers, and a barbershop on it works off the people already driving that stretch rather than off passing footfall. That is not a complaint, simply a description of how retail in the south half of this city is arranged.
Barbering here has had a genuine revival, and it arrived with the neighbourhoods. Vedder grew 39 per cent between 2011 and 2021, faster than anywhere in Chilliwack except Promontory, and most of that growth landed at the south end, in Garrison Crossing on the grounds of the base that closed in 1997 and in the subdivisions that filled in around it. Enough households in one place will support the traditional shop format, the chairs, the hot towel, the booking app, and that is more or less what happened. The downtown kept the older kind, including a couple of two-chair rooms that have been cutting hair in the same block for decades. Franchised chains are not listed on this site, which in this trade removes less than you might expect, because most of it is independently owned regardless.
Sweeney's Barber Shop publishes both a phone number and a website, putting it in the better documented half of the category. Nothing on this page covers what a cut costs, whether walk-ins are taken, or whether appointments run through an app, and those three things vary a great deal between shops on this road. The website is the quicker way to settle them and the phone the more reliable one. Take the unit number along when you go, because a postal code will find the block but not the door.
