Barbers
A barber shop near Garrison Crossing.
There are two kinds of barbershop working in Chilliwack at the moment, and the difference between them is mostly one of vintage. The downtown keeps the older format, including a couple of two-chair rooms that have been cutting hair on the same block for decades. The south end supports the revived traditional shop, with the hot towel and the booking app and the whole restored ritual, and it does so because Garrison Crossing and the newer Vedder subdivisions filled in after the Canadian Forces base closed in 1997. Garrison Crossing itself was laid out to be walked, which is unusual in a city built around arterial roads. Joanne's Barbershop sits at that end of the city.
Vedder is the reason the trade came back here at all. The neighborhood grew 39 per cent between 2011 and 2021, faster than anywhere in Chilliwack except Promontory, and it now holds more people than any part of the city other than the downtown itself. That is a great many heads within a short drive, and the growth arrived quickly enough that most of the businesses serving it are recent. Franchised chains are not listed on this site, so everything in this category is independently owned, which in barbering is the usual state of affairs regardless.
No street address is published, only a postal code and a telephone number. That is common enough for a small shop in a plaza or a shared building, and it means the map pin will land you in the right pocket of Vedder rather than at a door. The number listed above is what to use. Worth asking whether the shop takes walk-ins or works strictly by appointment, since barbering here runs both ways and the answer changes what sort of afternoon you are planning. Nothing here covers hours, prices, or who is holding the clippers, and none of that should be assumed from the category alone.

The City defines twelve neighborhoods. Three of them hold about two thirds of the population and most of the shopfronts, and the other nine run from a drained lake bed to a hillside to a working dairy landscape. Here is the honest version of each.
