Jewellery is one of the categories where Chilliwack's downtown has held on best. Several of the shops around Five Corners and along Wellington Avenue are long-established family businesses doing repairs, resizing, watch work and custom pieces rather than competing with mall display cases, and that repair trade is what keeps them there. There is a smaller cluster in Sardis serving the newer south-end housing. A few independent makers work out of studios rather than shopfronts and sell by appointment or through local markets, which is worth knowing if you want something made rather than bought.
