Chilliwack's independent dining rooms are scattered rather than clustered, which is the single most useful thing to know before looking for dinner here. The downtown has the highest concentration — the blocks around Five Corners, and the District 1881 development on the old Chilliwack Cattle Sales site, which brought in a run of newer kitchens. Vedder Road through Sardis and Vedder has the greatest number of rooms overall, though most sit in strip plazas and are easy to drive past. Out in Yarrow and Rosedale there are a handful of places that have outlasted several owners and are worth the drive. Chains are excluded here, so what remains is genuinely local.
